Electricity is delivered to our city via Entergy Arkansas’ transmission lines. Entergy has identified a transmission system pole that is in emergency need of repair. The proposed repair requires us to redirect power for a part of our City. Fortunately, this only effects one of our substations, however with the temperatures on the rise in Arkansas, it is not a great situation for us or our customers.
We are currently working to switch customers from this substation over to our other substations. This will increase each of their normal loads, and could lead to potential outages in a limited number of areas.
We are asking our customers to conserve energy if possible. Things you can do to help include: raise your air conditioner thermometer a couple of degrees, wash and dry your clothing at night or early morning when it is coolest outside, turn off unnecessary lighting, unplug unused electronics, and close your window coverings.
It is expected to take 3-4 days for the necessary repairs and everything to return to normal. We will continue to remain vigilant and monitor our infrastructure for any possible issues that may arise as normal.
Benton Utilities has the best customers, it is an honor for us to serve you daily. We along with Entergy Arkansas are doing everything in our control to keep your lights on, and we will continue to do so. We wanted to make you aware of the challenges we are facing at this time and greatly appreciate your help.
