- The treatment plant is permitted through the Arkansas Dept. of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) and is issued a United States Environmental Protection Agency National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. This permit assures we are in compliance with the Clean Water Act which controls water pollution by regulating sources that discharge pollutants into waters of the United States, and it also requires the treatment plant to meet certain pollutant parameters on a monthly basis.
- Benton Wastewater has been compliant with all regulations set forth by ADEQ for over two years.
- Benton Utilities Wastewater Treatment Plant treated a total of 258.67 million gallons for month of May 2015.
- A total of 25.4 tons of bio-solids were generated and sold for beneficial reuse. Bio-solids are nutrient-rich organic materials resulting from the treatment of domestic sewage in a treatment facility. When treated and processed, these residuals can be recycled and applied as fertilizer to improve and maintain productive soils and stimulate plant growth.
- A total of 13.4 million gallons of treated wastewater was recycled back through treatment plant for plant processes reducing costs and eliminating waste of treated water.
